
NIFL Announces Players of the Week

LAFAYETTE, LAâThe National Indoor Football League is pleased to announce Players of the Week from Week 5 action around the league as follows:
Pacific Conference:
Doug Smith - Quarterback, Utah Warriors
Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Warriors quarterback Doug Smith continued his solid performance in the pocket for Utah this past weekend. In the Warriors 63-56 win over the Wyoming Cavalry, Smith completed 13 of 21 pass attempts for 175 yards and six touchdowns. Utah is currently 3-1 on the season and will take on the Black Hills Red Dogs this Saturday night at the E-Center.
Lamont Truitt - Strong Safety, Sioux City Bandits
Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Sioux City Bandits strong safety Lamont Truitt played a key part in the Bandits 51-19 win over the Lincoln Capitols last Friday. Truitt was responsible for four total tackles and two interceptions, including one he returned for a 49 yard touchdown, along with three passes defensed. The Bandits are currently 1-2 on the season, and will take on the Wyoming Cavalry this Saturday.
Ezequiel Arevalo - Kicker, Tri-City Diesel
Pacific Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
The Tri-City Diesel played an amazing game over the weekend, as they handed the Omaha Beef their first loss of the season. Tri-City kicker Ezequiel Arevalo helped the Diesel's efforts as he completed 3 of 7 field goals on the night, which included a 50, 58, and 60 yarder. The Diesel have motored their way to a 3-1 record to date, and will face off against the Wichita Falls Thunder this Saturday in Kearney.
Atlantic Conference:
Darian Chestnut - Running Back, Houma Bayou Bucks
Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week
New Orleans native Darian Chestnut had a breakout game with the Houma Bayou Bucks over the weekend. In Houma's 66-51 win over the Wichita Falls Thunder, Chestnut ran the ball on 16 attempts for 95 yards and five touchdowns. He also hauled in two receptions for 16 yards on the night. Houma, now 3-1 on the season, will battle their in-state rivals, the Lake Charles LandSharks, this Saturday on the road.
Roy Locks - Defensive Lineman, Beaumont Drillers
Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Beaumont Drillers defensive lineman Roy Locks played a huge part in the 61-21 Driller victory over the Tupelo FireAnts this past Saturday. Locks, a 6-foot, 250-pound native of Orange, Texas, was responsible for 11 total tackles as the Drillers shut down Tupelo's offensive efforts. Beaumont's record stands at 2-2, as they look towards the Oklahoma Crude this weekend in Enid.
David Banks - Kicker Returner, Waco Marshals
Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
Killeen, Texas native David Banks was a special teams threat over the weekend as the Waco Marshals defeated the Oklahoma Crude, 54-44. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Banks returned six kickoffs for a total of 140 yards. Not only did Banks gain exceptional kickoff return yardage, he managed to return two of those kickoffs for touchdowns, including one for 45 yards. The Marshals, now 2-1 to date, will travel to Tupelo this Saturday to take on the FireAnts.
