NIFL Announces Minor Changes Heading Into Week Nine

May 7, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) News Release

Lafayette, LA—The National Indoor Football League is gearing up for another exciting week of football action in both the Pacific and Atlantic Conferences this weekend.

Two games have been adjusted for Week 9 play as the Lake Charles LandSharks will now visit the Utah Warriors for a special 12:00 noon kickoff at the E-Center in West Valley City, UT on Saturday, May 8. Also, the Greenville RiverHawks will visit the Carolina Stingrays (formerly Myrtle Beach Stingrays) in Florence, SC on Saturday, as well.

In other NIFL news, many newspaper outlets have reported the folding of the team in Waco, TX. The Waco Marshals will continue to play in the NIFL, with negotiations currently ongoing between the HOT Coliseum, Waco ownership and NIFL officials. More details regarding the Marshals will be announced early next week.

The NIFL has also taken over the operation of the Wichita Falls Thunder football team. The Thunder will continue to play all home and road contests as scheduled, including their game tonight in Lexington, KY.

Finally, the league has made an adjustment to the 2004 schedule in order to help achieve a stronger balance of play in the Pacific Conference. On June 4th, the Sioux Falls Storm will now visit the Wyoming Cavalry, and on June 5th, the Billings Outlaws will now travel to Black Hills to face the Red Dogs.

"We are working hard to make adjustments as the season goes along, but while these changes are taking place, the product on the field and entertainment value for our fans still remains the same," NIFL President Carolyn Shiver said. "The moves we are making will ultimately help strengthen the league in the long run as we make improvements across the board."
