Quarterback ERIK MEYER of the Cologne Centurions, linebacker JAMAR ENZOR of the Rhein Fire, and punt returner NORIAKI KINOSHITA of the Amsterdam Admirals are the NFL Europa League Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the ninth week of the 2007 season (June 8-9), the league announced today.
Meyer completed 21 of 29 passes for 287 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions (138.1 passer rating) during Cologne's 31-13 victory over Amsterdam.
With one week remaining in the regular season, Meyer ranks second among NFLEL quarterbacks in passer rating (100.6). In 2007, Meyer has completed 67.3 percent of his passes (115 of 171) for 1,384 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. Meyer, an Eastern Washington product, also has 125 rushing yards and one touchdown this season.
Enzor earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts during Rhein's 24-17 road victory over the Berlin Thunder.
He recorded eight tackles and returned an interception seven yards for a touchdown, giving the Fire a second-quarter lead it would not relinquish. It marked the second time this season Enzor has scored on an interception return - he also found the end zone on a 65-yard runback against Frankfurt in Week 5.
After joining the Fire in Week 5, Enzor has recorded 23 tackles, two interceptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns, one sack and two blocked punts.
Kinoshita has been named Special Teams Player of the Week after scoring on an 86-yard punt return in the Admirals' loss to Cologne. He returned two punts for 114 yards, two kickoff returns for 60 yards and caught two passes for 39 yards.
A native of Osaka, Japan, Kinoshita leads NFL Europa with nine punt returns for 173 yards (19.2 average) and one touchdown. He ranks fourth with 23 kickoff returns for 542 yards (23.6 average) and has added 21 receptions for 308 yards and two touchdowns.
Belgian defensive tackle PATRICE MAJONDO-MWAMBA, also of the Amsterdam Admirals, picks up his second National Player of the Week award of the season (Week 7) after recording eight tackles and one sack at Cologne.
Mwamba, a former member of the Denver Broncos practice squad, has recorded a career-high 24 tackles and two sacks in 2007.
