Newport Beach Breakers Announce Junior Charity Night on July 21 Vs. Springfield Lasers

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 29, 2010) - The Newport Beach Breakers continue their focus on charity and children with Junior Charity Night on Wednesday, July 21 against the Springfield Lasers at The Tennis Club Newport Beach. The night will serve as an opportunity to bring in several children's charities from throughout Orange County to experience professional tennis at its best. The match begins at 7:15 p.m. and is a rematch of the two teams that faced off in the 2009 WTT Western Conference finals

"It is through events like the Breakers' Junior Charity Night that we are able to expose Southern California children to the game of tennis," said Jeff Purser, Breakers executive director. "Through these programs, we are able to share with Orange County kids a game that can be played for a lifetime on various levels."

Tickets for Junior Charity Night can be purchased for a $5 donation to Hoag Hospital at the match or by calling the ticket sales office at 714-352-6301. All tickets will be open general admission seating. The Breakers originally announced that the July 21 match would be played in Long Beach, however after time spent planning this special event, it was concluded that the considerable operational and logistical challenges presented by moving the match to Long Beach in between two premier nights would be prohibitive. Fans who purchased tickets for the Long Beach match should contact Cathy Jacobson-Guzy at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center at 562-438-8509 for a full refund.

General admission tickets for four of the Breakers' seven home matches are sold as two-match packages. The Maria Sharapova package (good for the July 12 match vs. the Sacramento Capitals and the July 20 match vs. Kansas City, featuring Sharapova) and the John McEnroe package (good for the July 6 home opener vs. Sacramento and the July 22 season finale against McEnroe's New York Sportimes) are $45 each. Tickets to the Breakers-St. Louis match on July 15, featuring Lindsay Davenport, are $17.50. Tickets to the Breakers-Kansas City match on July 9 - "Junior Night" - are $10.

The Breakers will play 14 matches during the 35th season of the WTT Pro League presented by GEICO. Trevor Kronemann is coaching the team for the fourth consecutive season. The Breakers return their 2009 female players in USTA Pro Circuit all-time win leader Julie Ditty and Canadian Marie-Eve Pelletier. Together, Ditty and Pelletier won seven of their 13 women's WTT doubles sets last year. The Breakers sport a new dynamic men's duo in Huntington Beach resident David Martin and Marina del Rey resident Lester Cook.
