Newark Bears Warn of Owner Impostor

March 26, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Newark Bears News Release

A man introducing himself as the owner of the Newark Bears is on the prowl. Better known as, Thomas Cetnar, TC or Tom Cetnar, who after introducing himself, tries to sell companies a 2012 season sponsorship's. Although Cetnar was previously affiliated with the Newark Bears organization, his ownership interest terminated last year through a buyout by the two current owners, Danielle Dronet and Doug Spiel. Not only was Cetnar's ownership interest bought out but he, plus a few others that he was affiliated with, were banned from any Bears contact and has absolutely no affiliation with this historic team.

Years ago, Cetnar was found guilty on a second-degree official misconduct, which was reduced to a third-degree official misconduct. Seems that the Newark Bears and their potential sponsors may be his newest victims. Previously his mismanagement imperiled the Bears, nearly sending them back into bankruptcy. Today the Bears are stronger than ever as reflected by recent increases in sponsorships and ticket sales. Since 1999 the Bears have been a cornerstone of professional sports in Newark and are home to college teams from NJIT, Rutgers-Newark and Essex County Vo-Tech. Their survival is key to the ongoing renaissance of Newark and its people. If anyone notices any of this behavior please contact the local police and notify the ballclub at info@newarkbears.com .
