Newark Bears to Host 2nd annual Mardi Gras & Masquerade Ball

Newark, NJ- Newark Bears Professional Baseball Team will be celebrating their 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium, located at 450 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey 07102.

Mardi Gras Presents a common theme of fun between various cultures celebrating their differences and while enjoying each other and having a great time. Under that feeling of positively, the Newark Bears have created their own day dedicated to the same cause.

During the Ball, the 2012 team roster will be revealed and our guests will have an up close and personal view for the historic unveiling and memorial for our Bears Legends and Former Eagles Team. Our guests will have the opportunity to witness the signing of 2012 new Coaches and local players: Former Bench Coach from the New York Mets, Ken "Obie" Oberkfell and Former Major League Player, Ralph Citarella.

This year Newark Bears 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball consists of the following: 2011 & 2012 Royal Court members, live performances, special guests, new coaches and local players.

As we all know, Newark Bears gives recognition to those people who serves and dedicate their time in accomplishing many goals. Each member of the royal court has earned their titles by hard work and dedication in serving the community. This year, the 2011 King and Queen; Felipe Rose from the Village People and Singer and Song Writer Lorie Michael will announce the new Mardi Gras 2012 Royal Court.

In addition, Newark Bears invited Star Academy Culinary School from Newark, New Jersey, who are going to host their Top Chef Cook off. The Cook off includes the following Southern dishes: Boil Crawfish, Gumbo, Jambalaya, King Cake, and so much more.

Ken Obie Oberkfell

Former Bench Coach from the New York Mets, Ken "Obie" Oberkfell will be joining the Newark Bears coaching staff for the 2012 Season. As a former professional MLB player for 16 years with championship experience, Coach Obrekell will be making his first appearance this year for our new team at the Newark Bears Mardi Gras and Masquerade Ball.

Ralph Citarella

New Jersey native Ralph Cirarella is the new pitching coach for the Newark Bears team in 2012. With major league experience behind the mound with MLB teams like the Saint Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox, Coach Cirarella brings a wealth of knowledge.
