Newark Bears News Release

Think you can play like the pros? If you have visions of making it big on a professional baseball team, the Newark Bears will host their last open tryout to fill out the 2012 roster on April 28th at 10am sharp, located at the Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ.

"Finding local talent is the key." states Owner/ CEO/ GM Danielle Dronet. "It is the greatest reward to see how an organization has the ability to develop local heroes that their community can look up to." Dronet explains.

"Come on in and tryout there is always a possibility of making the team," said Senior Advisor Buddy Caruso, who has been busy prepping the Bears competitive roster. This season's intense leadership is sure to bring the heat by the Bears former Major Leaguer coaching staff; new manager, Ken Oberkfell, pitching coach Ralph Citarella, and returning coach Tim Raines.

Over the years, the Bears have been known to bring in big name ex-Major Leaguers, who saw the Independent baseball team as a grand opportunity to get back to the majors. This year will be not different!

The tryout will take place tomorrow, April 28th at 10am sharp and will be monitored by coaches Oberkfell, Citarella and Raines, who will be looking for players with legitimate baseball experience. Participants must have prior organized baseball experience.

Regular spring training will begin on May 6th in Newark with the preseason opener on May 9th at 1pm against Rockland at Riverfront Stadium, which will be complimentary for all fans to attend.

Entry for tomorrow's tryout is $50. For more information call the Bears front office at (973) 848-1000, email info@newarkbears.com, or visit the teams website www.newarkbears.com.
