The Newark Bears have announced the signing of infielder D'Angelo Jimenez and pitcher Ryan Fennell to its 2013 regular season roster, the club announced Tuesday.
Jimenez (veteran) spent the 2012 season with both Newark and Pericos de Pueblo of the Mexican League, and finished with a .296 batting average, 27 RBI and eight stolen bases.
The native of the Dominican Republic was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1994, and made his Major League debut in September 1999. In eight years as a major leaguer, Jimenez recorded a .263 batting average.
Fennell (rookie), is a right-handed pitcher from Pittsford, NY who spent the 2012 season playing for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League and the Arizona Reds of the Arizona League.
In 8.1 innings pitched, Fennell recorded a 5.40 ERA with six strikeouts and eight hits allowed.
