New York Riptide to Sign Proud Lacrosse Grandmother Rose Walker to One-Day Honorary Contract

February 9, 2023 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - New York Riptide News Release

LONG ISLAND, NY - New York Riptide General Manager and EVP Rich Lisk announced that the team will sign Lacrosse Grandmother and Nassau County Legislator Rose Walker to a one-day honorary contract on Saturday, February 11 in advance of the Riptide's match against the Albany Firewolves at Nassau Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. The decision was based on Walker's longtime and unwavering commitment to the sport of lacrosse and youth sports in Nassau County.

The Riptide will present Walker with a personalized team jersey on the arena floor this Saturday evening.

"I have been a part of the National Lacrosse League for 10 years and this is by far my most significant signing," said Lisk. "Even though this is only a one-day contract, I expect Rose to break several Riptide scoring records. Our entire organization and community appreciates her ongoing dedication to lacrosse that has spanned several decades."

"I look forward to suiting up for the Riptide and will do my best to score the game-winning goal to secure a victory at the Coliseum on Saturday night, especially to make my six grandchildren proud," said Walker. "I am grateful for this honor and will continue to push for Long Island to be the hotbed of youth lacrosse in our country!"
