New York Riptide News Release

Uniondale, NY - The New York Riptide have signed goaltender Steven Orleman to a two-year contract, the team announced today. The deal is pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

Orleman, selected 19th overall by the Georgia Swarm in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft, spent the 2018-19 and 2019-20 NLL seasons as a member of the Swarm's practice squad.

"Most new teams try to build from the net out. We are no different," Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. "Signing one of the most promising young goalies in Steven Orleman to a two-year deal provides us with the competition we want for the number one spot in that position. We look forward to what he will bring in making us a contender."

In his final year of play in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League (OJALL) in 2019, the 6-foot lefthander went 13-7 in the cage for the Brampton Excelsiors and recorded one shutout. In 1206:03 minutes he had a goals against average of 7.36 and a save percentage of .690%. For his OJALL career, Orleman saw action in 67 games with 1,333 saves, a goals against average of 7.60 and a save percentage of .735%.
