New York Red Riders Host Second Summer League Work Out

August 6, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Elmira, NY. Those who believe opportunity does not knock twice, the ABA New York RED RIDER professional basketball team would beg to differ. "We are at it again," stated GM Rich Micelotta. "We keep the fans in Upstate New York on their toes as we host our Second Summer League Work Out in 7 days. Never has an Elmira-based franchise hosted three tryouts in a matter of one month, with three months before the season opener."

"We are a community based team that serves as role models on and off the court," added Coach Tracy Long. "We will be in Elmira forever and want the community to get excited about the possibility of playing professionally for the New York RED RIDERS."

The Second Summer League Work Out will be on Saturday, August 8th. We will go through a rigorous ABA style work out as some of the best players in Elmira, and other parts of New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio complete for a spot on one of the newest and highly anticipated teams in the ABA.

Do you have what it takes to be a professional athlete? Put yourself to the test and if you pass the RED RIDER Challenge, then you are ready to compete on the same stage that the great Dr. Julius Erving made world famous in the 1970's, the ABA.

"We will bring the excitement back to the basketball scene in Elmira, NY and we will do so by taking the most talented players in Western New York and combining them with some of the best players in NYC, Albany, Buffalo, and Syracuse and adding the northern tier of Pennsylvania and eastern side of Ohio," stated Micelotta.

Date: Saturday, August 8th beginning at noon

Price: $100 per player

Place: Chemung County YMCA, 425 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira NY 14905
