RED BULLS RETURN TO MLS PLAY WITH VISIT TO REAL SALT LAKE SATURDAY: Fresh off their Emirates Cup victory on the weekend, the Red Bulls get back to MLS regular season action on Saturday when they visit Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium at 9:00 PM ET (TV: MSG).

New York became the first American club to participate in and win the Emirates Cup over the weekend, when they earned four points out of their two matches. On Saturday, Joel Lindpere's 27th minute goal upended French side Paris Saint-Germain as the Red Bulls took home a 1-0 decision. On Sunday, the Red Bulls faced the hosts and the former club of Thierry Henry, Arsenal FC. It looked as though the Gunners were on their way to lifting the Emirates Cup after Robin Van Persie gave them the lead with a first half goal. But the Red Bulls struck back in the 84th minute as Henry combined with Roy Miller, whose cross into the Arsenal box was knocked into the net for an own goal by Kyle Bartley.

The Red Bulls enter Saturday's tilt in Utah with a record of 6-5-12 and 30 points, which has them in third place in the Eastern Conference. The match pits strength against strength, as the Red Bulls have scored the most goals in MLS so far this season, finding the back of the net 34 times. Real Salt Lake owns the league's best defensive record, conceding just 14 times through 19 matches. Real Salt Lake currently finds itself in fifth place in the Western Conference on 33 points and a record of 9-4-6. RSL was shut out in its last match, falling to the Columbus Crew 2-0 last Saturday.

The Red Bulls-Real Salt Lake matchup has been very even since the Utah club entered MLS in 2005. All-time in the regular season, the Red Bulls are 3-2-7 against Real Salt Lake. While New York will be searching for its first ever regular season win away to RSL, the club does have a postseason victory in Utah. Back in 2008, the Red Bulls beat Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium, 1-0, in the Western Conference Championship match, earning the club's first ever MLS Cup berth. Last season, Real Salt Lake used a 4th minute goal by Fabian Espindola to defeat New York at Rio Tinto Stadium on Sept. 4, 2010. In the return fixture on October 9, the teams played to a scoreless draw at Red Bull Arena.

RED BULLS - REAL SALT LAKE CONNECTIONS: In the middle of the 2002 MLS season, New York acquired current Real Salt Lake midfielder Andy Williams in a six-player trade with the New England Revolution. Williams would go on to play 19 regular season games for New York, earning 17 starts, and scoring two goals and adding 13 assists.

Red Bulls midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy was drafted by Real Salt Lake with the second overall pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. Ballouchy spent nearly two seasons with RSL, appearing in 46 games and scoring two goals. He was dealt in July of 2007 to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for current RSL midfielder Kyle Beckerman.

RED BULLS BEAT PSG, DRAW ARSENAL TO WIN 2011 EMIRATES CUP: The New York Red Bulls won the 2011 Emirates Cup, drawing with host Arsenal FC 1-1 on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. Thierry Henry, facing Arsenal for the first time after eight seasons with the London club, helped create the game-tying goal just six minutes from full time, combining with teammate Roy Miller to force an Arsenal own goal. With their 1-0 victory on Saturday over Paris Saint-Germain, the Red Bulls topped the Emirates Cup table with four points.

Arsenal controlled possession for the majority of the first half, but Henry did come close to giving New York the lead. In the 24th minute, the Red Bulls earned a free kick just outside the Arsenal penalty area, which Henry took. Henry curled the ball over the defensive wall and towards the top left corner of the net, but Arsenal goalkeeper Wojiciech Szczesny made a diving save to keep the game scoreless.

The hosts took the lead in the 42nd minute, converting a set piece opportunity. Red Bulls midfielder Teemu Tainio was called for a handball, setting up a free kick for Arsenal that Tomas Rosicky stepped up to take. The Czech midfielder swung the ball in towards the penalty spot and Robin Van Persie was first to it, heading it past goalkeeper Frank Rost.

New York leveled the match and scored the Emirates Cup winning goal in the 84th minute. New York enjoyed possession in Arsenal's half, and Henry found himself at the top left corner of the penalty area. The former Arsenal man played a through ball to an on-running Miller, who crossed into the six yard box from the goal line. Arsenal substitute Kyle Bartley tried to clear the ball, but redirected it into his own net.

The Red Bulls defeated French side Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Saturday to kick off their participation in the 2011 Emirates Cup. Joel Lindpere notched the game's only goal in the 27th minute off a pass from Juan Agudelo.

Lindpere and Agudelo were the Red Bulls' two most active players in the opening minutes, and they combined to give New York the lead in the 27th minute. Lindpere touched a pass to Agudelo and made a run towards the box. Agudelo returned the ball to the Estonian, who had timed his run perfectly behind the PSG defense. From the right side of the box, Lindpere deposited his chance into the far side netting.

In the 76th minute, a giveaway by the New York defense in their own penalty area led to a goal scoring opportunity for PSG's Jeremy Menez. Menez fired a low shot from about 15 yards out towards the near post, but Red Bulls' goalkeeper Frank Rost dove and parried the chance to safety.

RED BULLS BECOME FIRST AMERICAN SIDE TO WIN EMIRATES CUP: The Red Bulls made history this weekend, becoming the first American club to participate in and win the Emirates Cup, the annual four-team tournament hosted by England's Arsenal FC. The Red Bulls topped the Emirates Cup table with four points after defeating French club Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Saturday and earning a 1-1 draw with host Arsenal on Sunday. In the five year history of the tournament, Arsenal has won the trophy three times (2007, 2009-10), while the Red Bulls join German club Hamburger SV, who won the competition in 2008, as the only other clubs other than the host to raise the cup.

RED BULLS ACADEMY UPDATE:

Red Bulls U-15 Pre-Academy Team Wins 2011 Generation adidas MLS Cup:

The Red Bulls U-15 Pre-Academy Team won the 2011 Generation adidas MLS Cup last week in Dallas, TX. Despite missing seven regulars, who were participating in the U-15 U.S. National Team Camp in Los Angeles, CA, the Red Bulls still lifted the trophy after going 3-0-1 during the competition.

The team started off its campaign with a scoreless draw with Seattle Sounders FC. The Red Bulls then defeated the Houston Dynamo by a 2-0 score, with Dante Perez supplying both goals for the victors. A place in the final was up for grabs as the Red Bulls took on the Los Angeles Galaxy. Malcolm Dixon and Joe Swenson gave the Red Bulls a 2-0 lead with first half goals. The Galaxy pulled one back early on in the second frame, but the Red Bulls responded with two more strikes. Stephen Elias notched the third and fourth goals for the Red Bulls, sending the team into the finals with a 4-1 victory over the Galaxy.

The Red Bulls faced Chivas USA in the final in a thrilling game. Dixon scored a crucial goal right before halftime to cancel out Chivas USA's opener, so the game entered the second half tied one apiece. Early after the restart, the Red Bulls earned a penalty when Tyler Pinho was taken down in the penalty area, setting up a penalty kick that Dixon buried to give the Red Bulls the lead. Chivas equalized, however, with 10 minutes remaining in the game when they were awarded with and converted a penalty of their own, tying the score 2-2. With just moments remaining in the match, the Red Bulls scored the tournament-winning goal when Elias headed in a free-kick from Theo Miller.

"We are very happy for the players and the academy; this is a great tournament to win," Red Bulls U-15 Head Coach Jeff Zaun said. "I think it says a lot about the depth of our talent pool when we can send seven players to a National Team camp and still win a prestigious tournament against the other MLS academies."

The U-15 group will next be going to Austria on August 8th for a tournament against top academies in Europe, including Red Bull Salzburg.

Red Bulls U-17's Finish Second In Generation adidas MLS Cup: The Red Bulls Academy U-17 team finished second in the Generation adidas MLS Cup this past week. The team played to a 3-2-0 record over the course of the competition. Ethan Decker led the team in scoring with six goals in the tournament, with Armando Moreno scoring three while Eric Lagg and Matt Miazga each notched one.
