New York Lizards News Release
Boston - Dylan Molloy was a consistent beacon of hope during a tough season for the 2019 New York Lizards. The 24 year-old attackman is contracted to return to the Lizards in 2020, and will look to build the playoff team New Yorkers are hoping for.
The 2019 MLL All-Star MVP finished the season as the Lizards second leading point-getter with 42 points as he contributed 28 goals and dished out 14 assists. A couple of his best performances of the season came against the Denver Outlaws on August 24 where he scored 4 goals and had 2 assists and against the Atlanta Blaze as he had 4 goals and an assist in a 21-15 win on September 21. In the July 11th game against the Boston Cannons, Molloy's back-to-back bull dodges landed him the #2 slot on SportCenter's Top 10.
Molloy started his MLL career as the first overall selection in the 2017 MLL Collegiate Draft and put up 27 points in eight games in his rookie season. After spending his first two seasons in the MLL with the Launch, Molloy signed with New York in the 2019 offseason. He joined New York after finishing the 2018 season as MLL's fourth-leading scorer with 41 goals and 18 assists.
Before joining Major League Lacrosse, Molloy built an impressive collegiate resumé in his time at Brown University. He was nominated for the Tewaaraton Award in his 2015 season and was the recipient of the award in 2016 as he led the nation in assists and was named a First Team All-American. He was also twice named as the Ivy League Player of the Year and was the recipient of awards like USILA Outstanding Player, USILA Outstanding Attackman and New England Player of the Year.
The Lizards will look to have a bounce-back 2020 season after a disappointing 2019 season that saw them finish with a subpar record of 5-11 and were out of the playoff race well before the final few weeks of the season. With a lot of their talent like Kevin Crowley and Austin Kaut under contract for the 2020 season, the outlook for next season remains positive as Molloy and almost all of the team's top players are contracted to return in 2020.
