New York All-Stars Represent Lizards Lacrosse in Houston, TX

BOSTON (June 13th, 2015) - Thirty-eight of the league's most elite players competed in the 14thannual MLL All Star Game on Saturday night, the first professional lacrosse game ever played in Texas. BBVA Compass Stadium was the place to be on Saturday afternoon.

In front of an attendance of 10,084, the League's top talent was on full display. MLL Ultimate Fans, Hayden MacArthur and Ethan Sorkin assembled a squad of their favorite players and both chose to name the teams after their hometown high school mascots, Cowboys and Gladiators. The MLL Gladiator's triumphed over the MLL Cowboys, 27-15.

Anthony Kelly and Greg "The Beast" Gurenlian took the faceoff on a hot 85-degree evening in Houston to open the exhibition of All Star talent.

Tom Schreiber, in his first MLL All Star selection, scored the first goal of the game, giving the MLL Gladiators an early lead. Tyler Fiorito (Chesapeake Bayhawks) started in goal for the Gladiators, while Jesse Schwartzman (Denver Outlaws) started for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys got on the board a few minutes later with a goal from Jeremy Sieverts. Brent Adams, also appearing in his first ever All Star Game, scored a spectacular goal from behind the net for the Gladiators.

To continue the scoring in the first quarter, Rob Pannell, who is leading the New York Lizards with 42 points this season thus far, scored a beauty from behind the back for the Cowboys.

With less than five minutes left in the first quarter, Jordan Wolf, attack for the Rochester Rattlers, tied it up at four for the Cowboys on a quick burst play.

The Gladiators opened the second quarter scoring eight back-to-back goals before the Cowboys got back on the board.

Jeremy Boltus, who is a Captain in the United States Army, scored the ninth goal of the night for the Gladiators. Boltus, who proved early on to be a major asset to his All-Star team, missed last year's MLL All Star Game, while he was protecting our country on a deployment to Afghanistan.

Brent Adams (Midfielder for the Boston Cannons) kept the excitement coming for the Gladiators with the first two-pointer of the evening, and his second goal of the night.

The Cowboys proved they were still in it for the long haul as Rob Pannell snuck one in over the shoulder of Tyler Fiorito to end the second half.

The Gladiators opened the third quarter with a heavy lead over the Cowboys, 13-4. The second half saw a change of goaltending with John Galloway of the Rochester Rattlers coming in for the Gladiators and Drew Adams of the New York Lizards coming in for the Cowboys.

With back to back goals to start the second half, Will Manny continued the momentum for the Gladiators, making the score 14-9. The Cowboys, down but not out, cut the deficit to five goals with a two-pointer from Max Seibald at 11:47.

The second hat trick of the evening came from Ohio's Tom Schreiber late in the third, as the Gladiators took a seven-goal lead. Marcus Holman (Ohio Machine) scored the first hat trick of the game for the Gladiators earlier in the first half.

Last year's MLL "Rookie of the Year" and star player for the Florida Launch, Kieran McArdle, scored off a no-look pass from Rob Pannell, keeping the Cowboys in the hunt.

Later, Will Manny scored his third goal of the quarter, to end the third with a hat trick and put his team ahead, 18-10, but Cowboy's Kieran McArdle put one past Galloway with 15 seconds left, to raise the score to 18-11.

New York Lizard's Greg Gurenlian gooses it to himself off the faceoff early in the fourth quarter, then makes an overhand pass to Drew Snider who rockets one in for the Cowboys. Kieran McArdle continues the scoring for the Cowboys, earning a hat trick and cutting the deficit to 18-13. Wolf follows suit, and blasts past Gladiator's defensemen, Joe Fletcher, to score against his Rochester teammate, John Galloway.

The Gladiator's found a second wind as Matt Abbott started a slew of goals three minutes into the fourth quarter, that eventually saw goals from Brent Adams, Joel White, Tom Schreiber, Jordan MacIntosh Casey Powell and another two goals for Abbott himself raising their lead to 26-15.

Casey Powell, attack for the Florida Launch, scored the final goal of the night for the Gladiators with one minute remaining in the game putting the nail in the coffin for the Cowboys.

Rochester Rattler's Jeremy Boltus was voted the Coca-Cola MVP for the 2015 MLL All Star Game with six goals on the night for his Gladiator team.
