Albany, NY – The WPFL just keeps growing, and this time it's expanding into Albany New York.

The Albany Ambush was added as an official expansion team for the 2004 roster on the Eastern Division.

"We have made a smart decision, and couldn't be happier that the WPFL has welcomed us into their football family" stated Ambush General Manager, Mehgan Ireland.

Based out of Albany New York, the Ambush is owned by Diane Metcalf. The team will play as an expansion team competing in a 6 game schedule. They are not eligible for playoffs, but get the experience of exchanging games with established teams for their first season with the WPFL.

"One of the things the WPFL does so well, is gives teams a chance to get their feet wet before they come on board with a full season". Stated Cabrina Gilbert, from the WPFL Football Operations Committee,

"Diane and Mehgan are two very intelligent and capable women. They will be a great addition to the WPFL as an exhibition team in 2004 and hopefully a member team in 2005". Stated WPFL Director of Team Expansion, Dawn Berndt.

The Ambush will be opening mini camp this coming Saturday, and are positive about fielding a successful team under Head Coach, Richard Messemer. For more information on the team, please visit their website at www.albanyambush.com.
