New Quarterback At The Helm Tonight For Spartans

La Crosse Spartans News Release
La Crosse, WI: With Quarterback Jimmy Sangster still nursing a knee injury from the Spartans opening night loss to the Wichita Wild, Ben Chester will have his first opportunity to earn the team its first ever win. Sangster went down late in the second half against Wichita with a slight MCL tear and is still a few weeks away from action, but the La Crosse staff is confident in Chester, a Green Bay native.
"Ben has looked good in practice," stated Spartans Co-Owner and General Manager Chris Kokalis. "He is very capable of coming in and leading this offense to its highest potential, and the entire organization is behind him."
This will be Chester's first live game playing the indoor game. He comes to the team after a career playing for Division III's Ripon College. A dual threat with his arm and his legs, Chester had his best game of 2009 against Knox College where he was 1 of 1 passing for ten yards and had nine rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Chester and the rest of the Spartans will head to Green Bay this evening to take on the Blizzard at 7:05. The two met in an exhibition match back in February with the Blizzard winning on a last second field goal. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fans wishing to watch the game can log onto www.b2tv.com and purchase a season or individual game pass. The team will return home on Saturday, April 3rd for their home opener against the Omaha Beef. Season and discounted group tickets are still available by calling the Spartans office at 608-567-4299. Individual tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com or by visiting the La Crosse Center Box Office.
