Metropolitan Riveters News Release
It's with extreme pleasure and elation that we welcome back Coach Ivo Mocek to the Riveters. This will be Ivo's 3rd season as head coach of the Rivs. In Season 7, Mocek will expand his role beyond just coaching, also being named Director of Player Personnel.
"I am thrilled to continue being the Head Coach of the Riveters and also take on the role of Director of Player Personnel. Especially since we have some unfinished business from last season. It has been an absolute joy to work with Anya so far since her level of professionalism and commitment is exactly what the Riveters and this league need. Being a part of the BTM Partners and Having John Boynton as the new chairman of the organization our Riveters players and fans will get the professional hockey club experience they deserve and it will help us build a championship franchise and I cannot wait to witness that. I believe that me and my staff will provide something to our players like no other team in the league can offer."
This is the first signing under new General Manager Anya Packer. Mocek's signing comes hot on the heals of the announcement that the team will be sold to BTM Partners, the same group that owns the Boston Pride and the Toronto Six.
Packer's first moves as GM have been big ones, saying this about keeping Mocek on "I am extremely proud to welcome Ivo back to our staff as our Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. He is an incredible coach with an eye for talent that has built a resume of success and skill development for the Riveters. In Season 7, I look forward to supporting him in building a winning team and creating an excellent player experience. Under his leadership, we will have an Isobel Cup ready team!"
In other HUGE News, the Rivs will undergo a sale and transfer of ownership from W Hockey Partners to BTM Partners. John Boynton will serve as the club's Chairman. The Rivs are just the most recent team to come under new ownership with the Connecticut Whale being approved for a sale and transfer of ownership earlier this month to Shared Hockey Enterprises (SHE), LLC owned by Tobin Kelly and his investment partners.
