San Francisco Dragons News Release
San Francisco, CA - Coming off of their first franchise win, The San Francisco Dragons (1-1) will travel to Denver to battle the undefeated Outlaws (3-0) in what is shaping up to become a fierce rivalry between two division foes. The Dragons and Outlaws are currently the only teams in the MLL expansion Western Conference with at least one win.
In their previous meeting, the Outlaws outscored the Dragons 15-11, but the Dragons gave the Outlaws their most competitive contest of the season, as this was the only game in which the potent Denver offense did not score 24 points.
"When you look at the Dragons team that lost to Denver, and then look at the roster we have now, it's a completely different looking team," says new draftee Steve McElduff. "(General Manager) Doug Locker and (Head Coach) Brian Silcott did such a great job in the draft, plus we have (Ryan) Powell, who did not play in that first game against the Outlaws. It's going to be a tough game for sure, but I like our chances."
The newly drafted McElduff, a defensive star at University of North Carolina, knows what the team needs to do to win. "Denver has some great shooters; (Jeff) Sonke is probably the best in the league at the two-point shot and if we give up too many of those, Denver can bury you really quickly."
GM Doug Locker echoes McElduff's sentiments. "Adding our draft picks and Ryan Powell to the lineup definitely give our team a different look. Denver is a very tough team, however we feel that with a solid effort on our part we will be in good shape. We need to take away their two point chances and get off to a good start. The thing I love about our team is that every single player is a competitor and I know they will be ready to play on Saturday."
The game will be televised (Tape delay) on Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountains, Monday, June 12 at 11:00 AM PST.
