New Hampshire Freeze Sign Three Players
September 3, 2008 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL)
New Hampshire Freeze News Release
The New Hampshire Freeze are proud to announce three more signings this week. Rob Miller, Head Coach of the NH Freeze, has signed goaltender Ryan Person, forward Duane Whitehead and defenseman Derek McKinlay.
Person, a goaltender from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has played in the SPHL for the last four seasons, carrying the Jacksonville Barracudas to the finals in 06-07. He has also had stints in the United Hockey League and the West Coast Hockey League. "Ryan is a gamer. I have played with and against him and when he is on it is very difficult to get anything by him", coach Miller said.
McKinlay a 6'1" 210 lb. defenseman from Port Franks, Ontario, has played 260 professional games in the Western Professional Hockey League, the Central Hockey League and the Southern Professional Hockey League. "Derek is going to add some experience on the blueline. He is a stay at home D-man with a very heavy shot from the point", says Miller.
The most recent Freeze signing is Duane Whitehead from The Pas, Manitoba. He is a smaller guy at 5'8" 160, but makes up for it in his tenacity and grit. He played in 06-07 with the Pee Dee Cyclones and the Richmond Renegades of the SPHL and scored 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists in 57 games.
