New England Revolution Youth Development Highlights: April 21, 2021

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution Academy hosted Beachside SC on Sunday in MLS NEXT Spring Season play, with the Under-17s playing to a 1-1 draw and the Under-15s and Under-14s both claiming 4-1 victories at Gillette Stadium. Revolution II was also in action hosting Richmond Kickers in their 2021 home opener. In the match, six current or former Revolution Academy players made an appearance.

In addition, the New England Revolution welcomed Rob Becerra as the club's new Director of Youth Development earlier this week. Click here to learn all about Becerra, who brings more than 20 years of coaching expertise including MLS, USL, and national team experience to the Revolution Academy.

The U-17, U-15, and U-14 Revolution Academy teams return to action next weekend with all three teams hosting Cedar Stars Academy on Sunday, April 25 at Gillette Stadium. Additionally, the U-14s will host Black Watch Premier at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 ahead of the first-team home opener.

Revolution MLS NEXT Highlights

Forward Isaie Louis (2005 - Everett, Mass.) featured for the U-17s over the weekend and scored his first goal of the 2021 spring season with an assist from Jason Zacarias (2004 - Billerica, Mass.).

Forward Enzo Goncalves (2006 - Hyannis, Mass.) scored in a third straight contest for the U-15s, tallying his fifth goal over that span, while teammate Jordi Tornberg Ayala (2006 - Revere, Mass.) recorded an assist for the third straight match.

Forward Angel Ortez (2006 - Revere, Mass.) continued his torrid start to the spring campaign, adding an assist on Sunday. Through four games this spring, he has compiled two goals and four assists, totaling six goals and six assists through eight games with the Academy since joining the program last fall.

Midfielder Jaime Vega (2007 - Cambridge, Mass.) recorded a second-half hat trick for the U-14s, scoring all three goals over a 10-minute span, and forward Raphael Alves (2007 - Framingham, Mass.) factored into the scoring for a third consecutive game, netting the opening goal of the match with an assist from Matias Xhikneli (2008 - Glastonbury, Conn.).

Revolution II and Alumni Highlights

Academy players Michael Tsicoulias (2002 - Newton, Mass.), Noel Buck (2005 - Arlington, Mass.), and Hikaru Fujiwara (2003 - Lexington, Mass.) all featured for Revolution II as substitutes on Saturday, each making their second appearance of the season.

Homegrown Players Justin Rennicks (1999 - South Hamilton, Mass.) and Damian Rivera (2002 - Cranston, R.I.) both started for Revolution II, playing 68 and 77 minutes, respectively, with the latter recording one shot.

Defender Colby Quiñones (2003 - Bedford, N.H.) made his season debut for New England and his first appearance since becoming the third Academy player to sign directly with Revolution II back in November. The 18-year-old played 68 minutes, registering one shot.
