New Bedford Bay Sox News Release
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - New Bedford Bay Sock and Oakland Athletic pitcher Andrew Triggs made his Major League Debut on April 25th against the Detroit Tigers. Triggs threw a scoreless inning in the A's 7-3 loss.
Triggs is the 124th graduate of the New England League to reach the Majors and the 30th to play this season. He is the fourth NECBL alum to make his MLB debut in 2016.
The Kansas City Royals' 19th round pick of the 2012 Draft, Triggs, rapidly ascended up the Minor League ladder, posting a 1.76 ERA in his first year of pro ball, tossing a 2.54 ERA for High-A Carolina in 2013 and being named a Texas League All-Star in 2014. That All-Star season, Triggs went 4-3 with 19 saves and a 2.93 ERA for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
Triggs was traded to the Orioles in April 2015 and picked up by Oakland this spring.
The Southern California Trojan went 3-2 with 30 strikeouts and a 2.78 ERA in five starts for the 2009 New Bedford Bay Sox, the inaugural season of the team. The prior summer, Triggs made eight starts for the Torrington Twisters.
The NECBL congratulates Andrew on this significant accomplishment.
