NECBL Announces 2023 Broadcasts That Will Air Exclusively on ESPN+

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) has reached an agreement with ESPN to stream a package of 10 games exclusively on ESPN+ in 2023. The agreement began with a telecast from historic Cardines Field in Newport, R.I., on June 23, and continues the NECBL's commitment to raising the visibility of premier college baseball talent and showcasing one of the best wooden-bat summer leagues in the country.
"Our ability to stream the NECBL on a national platform like ESPN+ is a testament to how far we have come in this league over the last 30 years," said NECBL president John DeRosa. "Most importantly, it is a testament to the quality of our product. From the players on the field, the broadcasters in the booth and everyone working behind the scenes, the NECBL is summer baseball at its best. We are excited to show baseball fans across the country how strong of a league we have."
Fans can stream select games live exclusively on ESPN+ and on demand for 30 days after the telecast. Games that stream on ESPN+ will not be available on the NECBL Network, which is powered by BlueFrame Technologies.
"The New England League is a premium baseball product," said executive producer PJ Moynihan of Digital Eyes Film, who has worked closely with management and broadcast teams at NECBL sites to deliver the live programming. The Newport (R.I.) Gulls, Keene (N.H.) Swamp Bats and Valley (Holyoke, Mass.) Blue Sox were selected as host sites for the pilot program.
"These teams do not have the resources of minor league clubs, or colleges and universities," said Moynihan. "These broadcasts are being produced by community-based franchises that are powered primarily by volunteers and people who love the game of baseball. The talent of the players combined with the quality and character of NECBL venues and fans has the potential to evolve into a very compelling broadcast product."
