Published on January 11, 2012 under National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) News Release
(TORONTO, ON) The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce its 'Cure on the Court' initiative, which tips-off this month.
"We are proud to be launching 'Cure on the Court' in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation," said NBL Canada Commissioner, John Kennedy.
"Breast cancer touches the lives of so many, including our teams, partners and fans. By raising funds and generating awareness, we are doing our part to create a future without breast cancer."
Each team has designated a home game in January or February to support the cause. NBL Canada 'Cure on the Court' games will have a pink presence and feature a variety of activities for teams to raise funds in their respective markets.
"We are thrilled that NBL Canada has chosen to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through the 'Cure on the Court' initiative", says Jane Parsons, CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region. "The time and effort that the teams are putting in to this initiative both on and off the court accentuates their commitment to our cause."
All proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Atlantic and Ontario Regions, helping them continue their important work with world-class researchers and clinicians who are contributing to groundbreaking progress in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.
