Halifax Hurricanes

The Hurricanes picked up two big wins in three games this week, moving closer to the upper half of the NBL's Atlantic Division. Antoine Mason continued his scoring onslaught for Halifax with 25.7 ppg, Mason was one of six Hurricanes who averaged double figures in scoring. CJ Washington averaged a double-double of 17.7 points and 10.0 rebounds.

Island Storm

The Storm's one game this week was a painful 130-90 road loss to the Moncton Magic, putting the PEI's slim postseason hopes in jeopardy. Robbie Robinson had the hot hand for the Storm with 24 points, while Lewis Diankulu came off the bench to add 13 in the loss.

KW Titans

Kitchener-Waterloo took two wins this week, as the Titans slowly crept back up the NBL's Central Division. The big scoring for the Titans came from Damon Lynn, who pulled a 28.7 ppg average for his team. Akeem Ellis and Ed Horton scored 17.7 and 17.3 ppg, respectively. Joel Friesen returned to the Titans, averaging 11.5 ppg in two games.

London Lightning

The Lightning's Saturday night road contest ended in a disappointing 131-119 loss to the Sudbury Five. AJ Gaines and Xavier Moon scored 30 and 26 points, respectively; Gaines was also the Lightning's top rebounder with 10 boards and four blocked shots.

Moncton Magic

Head Coach: Joe Salerno Home arena: Centre Avenir

The Magic jumped out to an early 34-15 lead on Friday night against the Island Storm, and cruised toward a 130-90 victory. Corey Allmond hit 8 of 15 3-pointers en route to a 33-point leading score; Allmond also pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. The victory ensured the Magic of their third consecutive winning season, and moved them closer to a playoff berth.

St. John's Edge

The Edge's Ontario road trip was not successful, as the Newfoundland and Labrador crew lost their two road contests. Despite the losses, Junior Cadougan garnered 16.5 ppg, while Ryan Richardson and Olu Ashaolu tallied 15.5 and 15.0 ppg. Montay Brandon averaged 10.5 rebounds in the two Edge games.

Sudbury Five

The Sudbury Five followed up a 19-point road loss to Halifax with a 12-point triumph over the London Lightning, splitting their two matches this week. In the two games, Braylon Rayson had a Herculean 45.0 points per game, averaging 7 3-pointers per contest. The Five were also charged in scoring with 23.0 ppg from Jaylen Bland and 20.0 ppg from JR Holder. Brady Skeens dominated on the boards, pulling down 11.0 rebounds per game.

Windsor Express

The Express continued to fight for a playoff spot with a 112-93 triumph Friday night over St. John's - which began with a 39-13 first quarter in which Windsor outscored their opponents 3-1. Chris Jones had a double- double of 22 points and 10 assists, while Quinnel Brown scored 17 points; Sam Muldrow and Kemy Osse contributed 16 points apiece.

NBL CANADA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Braylon Rayson of the Sudbury Five has been named Player of the Week for the week ending March 8, 2020.

Rayson, a 5'9" point guard who played collegiately at Central Michigan, had games of 41 and 49 points for the Five, including tying his personal record of 49 points and 8 3-pointers in Sudbury's 131-119 Saturday night victory over the London Lightning.

NBL CANADA CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Kemy Osse of the Windsor Express has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending March 8, 2020. This is the second time this season that Osse has earned this honour.

Osse, a 6'1" point guard from Montreal who played collegiately at Arkansas-Little Rock, scored 16 points in the Express' 122-93 victory over St. John's.

NBL CANADA COACH OF THE MONTH

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Joe Salerno of the Moncton Magic has been named Coach of the Month for February 2020. This is the second time this season that Salerno has earned this honour.

Under Salerno's watch, the Magic assembled a league-best 8-2 winning record, holding their opponents to a 97.9 scoring average, the best defensive average of all eight teams for the month of February.
