NBDL daily developments

Published on February 2, 2005 under NBA G League (G League) News Release

GROUNDHOG DAY: Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow? Will Matt Carroll, the NBDL's leading scorer, earn a GATORADE Call-up? In true Groundhog Day (the movie) fashion, will GATORADE Call-up history repeat itself and the NBDL have over half its total player promotions in the next two months? Will Bill Murray show up at a D-League game to find Punxsutawney Phil? Will it be in Asheville to reunite with co-star Andie MacDowell, who lives in the Western N.C. mountains? Will James Thomas win the NBDL rebounding title, or Rodney Bias...or Thomas...or Bias?

PHIL'S FORECAST: With the season two games past the halfway point, Fayetteville and Florida will make a run, getting back in the race. Going out on a limb here, but the remaining four teams, all separated by just one game, could each take a turn in first place over the next few weeks.

FLIGHT ADVANTAGE: Huntsville, the league's best team at home at 8-3, plays six of eight games in February at the friendly confines of the Von Braun Center.

ONLY THREE: Tonight's game against the Columbus Riverdragons is the first of just three home games for the Florida Flame in February.

4,270: Is the amount of miles the Flame will put in on the road this month with trips between Fort Myers and Asheville, Roanoke, Huntsville, back to Asheville and then Columbus.

3-10: The Florida Flame's road record this season.

I HATE THAT BUS: Fayetteville is 1-12 on the road. The Patriots play three of six away from home in February.
