IT'S A NEW YEAR: What a difference a year makes. With six games in the books this season, the Columbus Riverdragons have a nifty 5-1 record. Six games into the 2003-04 season, the Dragons were still looking for their first win.
SPEAKING OF A NEW YEAR: The Roanoke Dazzle, battling Columbus for the top spot in the 2004-05 early-season standings with a 3-1 record, closed out last season by losing 10 consecutive games.
TWO FOR ONE: It's "Buy One-Get One Free Night" as the Columbus Riverdragons open a four-game home stand against the Roanoke Dazzle this evening. Fans who purchase a regularly priced ticket will receive another ticket of equal value free. In addition, the Columbus Boys Choir will make a live performance at halftime of the Dragons-Dazzle game.
ALUMNI CHECK: A quick check of Saturday NBA box scores shows that several former D-Leaguers had productive outings. Rafer Alston recorded a double-double (20 pts and 10 asst) in the Raptors 105-97 loss at Cleveland, while Jason Hart had 13 points in 26 minutes as the Bobcats beat the Knicks, 107-101. Bobby Simmons played 47 minutes, scoring 15 points and grabbing seven rebounds as the Clippers lost in overtime to the Timberwolves, 107-100. Mikki Moore chipped in 11 points and nine boards for the Clippers.
NBDL QUIZ: The Fayetteville Patriots have lost six straight road games dating back to the final game of the 2003-04 season. What is the NBDL record for longest consecutive road losing streak?
NBDL GAME OF THE WEEK: Huntsville's 100-86 victory over Asheville on Dec. 3 will be featured as the NBDL Game of the Week on NBA TV at 4:30 p.m. ET on December 16.
