LOUISVILLE LEGEND: Texas Legends guard Carlik Jones has been named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Jan. 10 through Sunday, Jan. 16. The former All-ACC First Team selection led Texas to a 2-0 week, behind averages of 32.5 points, 10.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds. Jones posted career highs in points (42) and assists (10) in Texas' 136-132 overtime win over the Santa Cruz Warriors on Jan. 15. Jones and the Legends will look to build on their solid start when they visit the Oklahoma City Blue on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF: Three double-digit victories and a double-digit comeback highlight a 4-0 start for the Western Conference-leading Iowa Wolves. The team has been led by the all-around play of Minnesota Timberwolves Two-Way guard McKinley Wright IV, who's averaging 19.0 points and 8.0 assists and playing terrific defense. Brian Bowen II leads the team in scoring (21.3 ppg) and rebounding (13.0 rpg). Wolves guard Isaiah Briscoe dazzled with a triple-double (15 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds) in Iowa's 113-99 win over the South Bay Lakers on Jan. 16. The Wolves play the undefeated Agua Caliente Clippers (3-0) tonight at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
GO-GO ON A ROLL-ROLL: The Capital City Go-Go went 3-1 last week to improve to 4-2 overall. Highlighting the week was a 113-104 victory over the 5-1 Raptors 905 on Jan. 13. The Go-Go had six players score in double figures, including a pair of double-doubles from Jaime Echenique (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Greg Monroe (15 points, 15 rebounds). Echenique has been a standout performer, leading the team in points (21.0 ppg) and rebounds (9.7 rpg). Capital City returns to action on Jan. 22, hosting the Windy City Bulls at 7 p.m. ET on NBAGLeague.com.
Miami Heat center Ã-mer Yurtseven (OKC Blue, 2020-21) has played a major role in keeping the Heat near the top of the Eastern Conference standings despite the team missing key players to injuries. The Turkish big man was slotted into the starting lineup on Dec. 26 against the Orlando Magic and averaged a double-double of 13.6 points and 13.9 rebounds in 10 games as a starter. Those 13.9 rebounds per game were good for fourth in the NBA during that 10-game span where Miami went 7-3 with Yurtseven manning the starting center position.
Santa Cruz Warriors guard L.J. Figueroa start- ed the week with a buzzer-beating floater to give Santa Cruz a 132-130 overtime victory against the Memphis Hustle on Jan. 10. Figueroa finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
New York Knicks guard Miles McBride, playing on assignment with the Westchester Knicks, was dominant in the Knicks' 110-105 win over the Motor City Cruise on Jan. 11. McBride finished with 39 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Maine Celtics Two-Way forward Sam Hauser nailed a career-best nine three-pointers en route to a career-high 31 points in Maine's 98-86 victory over the Cleveland Charge on Jan. 15.
Raptors 905 guard Ashton Hagans filled the stat sheet with a versatile performance in his team's 111-99 win over the Lakeland Magic on Jan. 16. Hagans finished with career highs in points (24), assists (six) and steals (seven).
