Published on May 11, 2015 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, May 11, 2015 - The NBA Development League, the official minor league of the National Basketball Association, will hold its annual National Tryout on Sunday, June 14 at New York City's Basketball City on Manhattan's Pier 36. The one-day event will feature NBA D-League hopefuls playing in full-court games, giving participants the opportunity to showcase their skills for NBA D-League player personnel executives, coaches, and industry scouts, with the hopes of gaining eligibility to November's NBA D-League Draft.
"The annual National Tryout is an important part of the NBA D-League calendar and an essential piece of the league's efforts to identify top young prospects," said Malcolm Turner, NBA D-League President. "It's always exciting to watch players compete for an opportunity to play in the NBA's official minor league and I hope to see some of the participants in an NBA D-League jersey next season."
2015 National Tryout participants will each play in at least two games, while benefitting from hands-on instruction from NBA D-League coaches. Additionally, each player at the National Tryout will receive an authentic NBA D-League practice uniform and enjoy a chalk-talk from the camp's director.
Thirty entrants from the 2014 Tryout went on to earn NBA D-League contracts for the 2014-15 season, including Oklahoma City's Dane Miller and Texas' Yuki Togashi.
Players wishing to participate must be at least 18-years-old and meet NBA D-League eligibility requirements. The application for the camp and the player waiver form can be downloaded from the league's official website at https://dleaguetryouts.nba.com/. Completed forms, along with a $350 online payment, need to be received by the League office by June 1, 2015. All materials must be received by the deadline and completed in their entirety for the player to be considered for participation in the NBA D-League National Tryouts. Participants are encouraged to register early as space is limited to 220 players.
