COLORADO 14ERS CAPTURE 2009 NBA D-LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Wednesday's games:
Led by veteran Josh Davis' 21 points, the Colorado 14ers defeated the Utah Flash 123-104 tonight to earn the 2009 NBA Development League Championship at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado. John Lucas scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to guide the team to its first NBA D-League championship while Joe Dabbert finished the contest shooting a perfect 10-of-10 from the field to score 21 points. Nuggets assignee Sonny Weems finished with a game-high 25 points off the bench.
Utah was led by Morris Almond and Kevin Kruger who scored 18 points a piece, while J.R. Giddens chipped in with a 17-point, 15-rebound double-double.
NUGGETS RECALL WEEMS
The Denver Nuggets have recalled guard/forward Sonny Weems from the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League, team Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced today. Weems was assigned to the 14ers for his third stint on April 10 and has averaged 20.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.0 apg in 22 appearances with Colorado, while helping the 14ers capture the D-League championship.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:
Seven players with D-League experience competed in three NBA playoff games last night, two as starters.
Starting for Orlando, Rafer Alston scored 17 points to go with five rebounds and four assists.
Houston's starter Aaron Brooks notched 11 points, five assists and four rebounds as the Rockets defeated Portland 86-83. Von Wafer added eight.
