SPURS ASSIGN MARCUS WILLIAMS TO AUSTIN

The San Antonio Spurs today assigned forward Marcus Williams to the team's NBA D-League affiliate Austin Toros. Williams' is the 45th assignment of the 2008-09 NBA D-League season and the first in his career. Williams, a 6-7 forward, played in 45 games, all starts, for the Toros this season.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Wednesday's games:

v Mohammed Abukar notched a game-high 36 points for Idaho, scoring 23 points in the second quarter and hitting a perfect 8-of-8 in the period.

v Malik Hairston scored 34 points and Marcus Williams added 33 as the Austin Toros advanced to the second round of the NBA D-League Playoff by defeating the Idaho Stampede 119-116 in overtime. Dwayne Jones, who was acquired earlier in the season for a trade for Mohammed Abukar, recorded a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds for Austin. San Antonio Spurs assignee Marcus Williams also added nine rebounds and eight assists to his high scoring evening.

v Kevin Kruger scored 23 points and Ronald Dupree had a double-double to lead the Utah Flash to a 94-81 victory over the Bakersfield Jam. Kruger also added six rebounds and six assists. Dupree finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. J.R. Giddens, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, knocked down 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Morris Almond, on assignment from the Utah Jazz, contributed 15 points off the Flash bench.

v Trey Johnson led the Jam with 23 points, while Mateen Cleaves added 15 points. Justin Reed notched 16 points for the Jam and Terrance Thomas contributed 11 points off the Jam bench.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:

42 players with D-League experience competed in 14 NBA games last night, 10 as starters.

v Philadelphia's Louis Williams tallied 19 points as the 76ers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-110 to secure the sixth seed in the 2009 playoffs.

v Starting for Milwaukee, Ramon Sessions finished one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 12 assists.

v Detroit's Will Bynum scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Pistons.

v As a starter for Orlando, Rafer Alston recorded 15 points. Teammate Marcin Gortat added 11 points to go with eight rebounds.

v D.J. White notched a double-double, scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds.

v Starting for Golden State, CJ Watson netted 20 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds. Kelenna Azubuike, also a starter, added 18.
