NBA All-Star Week A Slam Dunk for the Atlanta Xplosion

Atlanta, GA... During a week of star-studded events in conjunction with the city of Atlanta hosting the 2003 NBA All-Star Game, Players from the IWFL's Atlanta Xplosion took part in several events celebrating Girls and Women in Sports.

Kiwanii Gibson (LB) represented the Atlanta Xplosion in the WNBA's "Nothing But Net Challenge" which featured activities for 3rd 4th and 5th graders, focusing on good nutrition, proper exercise and a positive attitude. Gibson joined WNBA stars Coco Miller, Kelly Miller, Nykesha Sales, Carla McGhee, Ticha Penicheiro, and NBA Veterans Bob Lanier and Nate "Tiny" Archibald working with the students at Adamsville Elementary School in addition to posing for pictures and signing autographs.

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue recognized February 5th, 2003 as "Girls and Women in Sports Day", and Xplosion Players; Gibson and Carlisa Lawson (LB) were welcomed in addition to other prominent Sports Leaders and Athletes to a banquet and the signing of the State Proclamation, followed by an awards ceremony sponsored by Georgia's Women's Intersport Network (GA-WIN) http://www.ga-win.org/ "It was an honor to be in the presence of all of the corporate guests, award finalists and sponsors." Gibson Stated.

As an exhibition team for the 2003 season of the IWFL, The Atlanta Xplosion players work tirelessly; not only on the field, but in the community they represent.

The Xplosion begin their season on April 19th, 2003.
