
Nationals Win Second Straight

The Hamilton Nationals and used career nights from Stephen Keogh and David Earl to defeat the Rochester Rattlers 16-8 at McMaster University.
Keogh had a career-high six points (3+3) and Earl had a career-best five points (3+2) to help the Nationals improve to 2-3. Rookie Joe Resetarits also scored his first two pro goals in his second MLL game. It was contribution by committee in the team's second straight victory with eight players scoring for the Nationals.
The Nationals improved to 4-0 lifetime against Rochester, who fell to 2-3 on the season. Brett Queener earned the win in goal, while recently activated Brent Herbst saw his first action in the final seven minutes. John Galloway made 20 saves in the loss.
The game started with blinding sunshine limiting each team to two goals after the first 15 minutes. Steven Boyle opened the scoring for Rochester at 2:19 only to have Keogh scored consecutive goals to give Hamilton a 2-1 lead. The Rattlers' Jordan MacIntosh leveled the game at two at 12:48.
After the teams traded goals, Hamilton broke open a 3-3 game with six straight goals in the second quarter. In fact, in a 20-minute span, Hamilton outscored Rochester 12-2 to take a 15-5 lead. It all began with Joe Walters (2+0) and Kevin Crowley scoring back-to-back goals in the second. Keogh then assisted on three straight tallies and netted his third of the game to give the Nationals a 9-3 lead. Craig Bunker added a quick strike off a faceoff to make it 9-4, but Walters connected for his second of the night at 14:37 to close out the half.
Rochester opened the second half with Boyle's goal just 56 seconds into the third to bring the Rattlers within 10-5. Hamilton, however, responded with a 5-0 run as Crowley (2+2), Earl and Garrett Billings (2+0) scored single tallies, while Resetarits scored twice.
Rochester strung together three straight to cut the deficit to 15-8. Jordan MacIntosh scored from Boyle at 14:24 on the man-up for the sixth Rattlers' marker. Kevin Drew and Jay Card followed with goals for Rochester. Hamilton ended the contest, and any comeback hopes, with goals from Billings and Donny Moss.
Hamilton hits the road again, as it travels to Chesapeake to take on the Bayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th. The Nats are back home on Saturday, July 7th against the first-place Boston Cannons. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
