Hamilton Nationals News Release

When Garrett Thul steps on to a lacrosse field, he is hard to miss. That was certainly the case last weekend in Annapolis, Md. The 6-3, 231-pound future Army Ranger made quite the impression during two days of practicing with the Hamilton Nationals. The hulking attackman whistled shots from two-point range and powered his way to the cage for close-range goals.

On Saturday, West Point's all-time leading scorer will make his Major League Lacrosse debut. He will dress for Hamilton in a first-place showdown with the Denver Outlaws. The winner of the battle of the unbeaten will take sole possession of first place in the MLL.

"We are looking for Garrett to take the ball inside on the dodge and extend the defense with his shot," said Nationals Head Coach Dave Huntley.

"It's incredible. All I wanted was a shot and here it is," said Thul.

Thul, pronounced THOOL, was named an All-American for the third straight season, having been named a third team honoree in 2012 and an Honorable Mention All-American in 2011. This season, he became Army's career leader in goals (163) and finished second on the Patriot League's all-time goals list. The three-time Patriot League First Teamer achieved a first at West Point, becoming the only player in team history to record three 40-goal seasons (2010, 2011 and 2013). In 2013, he netted 37 goals (3.08 per game) to lead the Patriot League and rank fifth in the nation.

The native of Flemington, NJ was the Nationals' third-round selection (21st overall) in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.

Hamilton made three additional moves today, assigning attackman Joe Resetarits to the practice squad, and waiving midfielders Coady Adamson and Joel Zalesky.

The Hamilton Nationals (5-0) travel to play the Denver Outlaws (5-0) on Saturday, June 8th at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The 8:00 p.m. game will be streamed live on the league's YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/MLL.
