
Nationals Hit the Road Again

The Hamilton Nationals travel to Rochester to play the Rattlers on Sunday, July 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Sahlen's Stadium. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
Scouting the Nationals: The Nationals enter the game in second place in the MLL with a 6-3 record. Hamilton dropped its last game, 17-10, to the defending MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks last Saturday. Hamilton got a five-point performance from Joe Walters (1+4). Jordan Hall (2+0), Cody Jamieson (2+0), Kevin Cunningham (1+1), Stephen Keogh (1+1) and Brodie Merrill (0+2) also chipped in two points apiece. It was Merrill's 99th MLL game. Hamilton is 1-0 against Rochester this season, defeating the Rattlers 17-11 in Boca Raton, Fla. on June 22nd.
Knighthawks back in Town: Four members of the back-to-back NLL Champion Rochester Knighthawks will be back in town for the game Sunday. Midfielder Joe Walters, defenseman Sid Smith, and attackmen Stephen Keogh and Cody Jamieson will return as members of the Nationals. Walters (1+5) and Jamieson (3+3) both had big games in the 11-10 victory on March 11th over the Washington Stealth. Jamieson was named the Championship Game MVP for the second straight season, becoming just the second player in NLL history to accomplish that feat. Smith was the team captain of the Knighthawks and Keogh contributed with five points (1+4) in two playoff games.
Still Streaking: Kevin Crowley is riding a career and team-best 24-game point streak, while Joe Walters is in the midst of a 21-game point streak.
Nationals among MLL leaders: Heading into the week, Crowley (27+1+8) is second in the MLL in points (36) and goals (27). Walters leads the MLL in assists (17) and is sixth in points (30). Goalie Brett Queener is third with a .601 save percentage and is fourth in the MLL with a 12.12 goals-against average. Brodie Merrill ranks fourth in the MLL with 55 ground balls.
Player Moves: On Tuesday, the Nationals acquired midfielder Josh Amidon from the Charlotte Hounds in exchange for midfielder Josh Hawkins and a first round pick in the 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft.
Scouting Rochester: The Rattlers earned a big victory last Sunday, downing the New York Lizards 13-10 to stay in the playoff hunt. With a 4-5 record, Rochester is in a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the MLL. The Rattlers broke open a 3-3 tie by outscoring New York 6-1 in the second quarter. Kevin Leveille (3+2) and Dave Lawson (2+3) led the way with five-point efforts. Leveille was honored with the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week award for his performance. John Galloway earned the win in goal. He currently ranks fourth in saves (112), and fifth in save percentage (.541) and goals-against average (12.27). Matt Striebel, Ned Crotty, Mike Manley and Jordan MacIntosh will play in next weekend's MLL All-Star Game. Crotty leads Rochester with 23 points (11+12) in eight games.
All-Star Weekend: The Nationals will have five players participating in the 2013 MLL All-Star Game, presented by Moe's Southwest Grill. Kevin Crowley, Joe Walters, Brodie Merrill, Brett Queener and Kevin Cunningham will represent the Nationals at the event on Saturday, July 13th in Charlotte, NC. The game at American Legion Memorial Stadium will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
