Nationals' Crowley Wins Rookie of the Week Award

(Hamilton, July 5)... Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday its weekly award winners for the week ending July 3rd, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. Rookie midfielder Kevin Crowley of the Hamilton Nationals was selected as the recipient of the Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week award.

Boston Cannons midfielder Paul Rabil was named as the MLL Offensive Player of the Week, while Chesapeake Bayhawks goalkeeper Brian Phipps earned the League's Defensive Player of the Week award.

Crowley earned the Cascade Rookie of the Week honor after scoring four goals with two assists in the Nationals' 15-9 victory over Long Island on Friday night. While leading the Nationals to their third win in a row, Crowley tallied three of his goals in the first half as Hamilton jumped out to a 7-4 lead at the intermission.

The first overall pick in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft, Crowley has scored six goals with four assists in five games this year. A first team USILA All-American as a senior, he finished his collegiate career at Stony Brook as the school's all-time leading scorer with 232 points. He scored 30 goals with 26 assists as a senior and was named as the USILA Division I Midfielder of the Year.

The MLL season continues on Saturday night with the Sports Authority MLL All-Star Game at Harvard Stadium. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2 and available online on ESPN3.com.

The Nationals will host the Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.
