National Lacrosse League announces weekly US television for 2005 season
February 1, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
The National Lacrosse League announces its weekly television broadcasts in the United States for the 2005 season. The league will broadcast the "NLL Game of the Week" into millions of homes each week for the remainder of the 2005 regular season through its new broadcast partnerships with the America One Television Network and a host of regional sports networks across the country.
The NLL Game of the Week will be shown on affiliates of the America One Television Network, which consists of 117 local television stations across the country. The broadcasts will air each week on Wednesday at 11pm Eastern/8pm Pacific. The first of twelve consecutive weekly game broadcasts on America One airs on February 2nd and will continue on each Wednesday night through the conclusion of the regular season.
"We're excited to add the National Lacrosse League to our prime time lineup of sports programming", said Preston Bornman, Executive Vice President of America One Television. "Professional indoor lacrosse is a fast-paced, exciting game that will attract audiences and advertisers alike. We are pleased to provide the NLL Game of the Week on Wednesday nights to our family of affiliated stations across the country."
The NLL Game of the Week matchups are listed below. The games will be aired on a tape delay basis. Please check your local listings for the broadcast in your area. The complete list of America One affiliates can be found at the end of the press release.
The NLL Game of the Week will also air on some of America's leading regional sports networks, including Cox Sports Television New England, Cox Sports Television Louisiana (home network of the NBA New Orleans Hornets) and C-SET, the Charlotte-based network that serves as the television home of the NBA Charlotte Bobcats. Each network will air the games in a weekly time slot on a tape delay basis. Please check your local listings or the TV/Radio page at nll.com for broadcast dates and times.
"We're extremely pleased to broadcast the NLL Game of the Week on the America One stations and the regional sports networks," said NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings. "This is a good start, and we expect additional regional sports networks to join in as the season progresses. We're excited to bring the NLL game to millions of homes, including many who will be seeing our game for the first time. Between today's announcement and our NBC announcement, we're very bullish on the television presence we will have in the United States for this season and beyond."
The NLL recently announced that the 2005 All-Star Game and Champion's Cup Final game will each air live on NBC, bringing the game of lacrosse to a national network television audience for the first time in its history. The All-Star Game from Calgary will air live on NBC on Saturday, February 26th at 2pm Eastern, and the Champion's Cup Final will air live on NBC on Saturday, May 14th at 3:30pm Eastern.
The league also broadcasts national weekly games in Canada on The Score Television Network and regional broadcasts on Rogers Sportsnet East, Ontario and West.
