Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats are proud to announce that they have been honoured by the Canadian Cancer Society with their National Special Recognition Award. The Pats received the award at the Canadian Cancer Society, Saskatchewan Division awards night this past Friday at Innovation Place.
The award acknowledges the Pats contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society with the annual "Breast Cancer Awareness Night". Over the past 5 years, the Pats have raised over $50,000 with the auctioning of game used jerseys and sticks as well as special pink hockey memorabilia. The night also honours many cancer survivors and has raised awareness of women's cancers.
"It has been an honour to work with the professional staff at the Canadian Cancer Society over the past 5 years on our annual "Breast Cancer Awareness Night". We would like to pass on our thanks to all the people that have helped us over the years: the survivors' alumni, Dionne Warner, Kal Hourd and our season ticket holders for making this an award winning event." Regina Pats Vice President of Operations, Cliff Mapes continues, "Each year we challenge our staff to improve on "Breast Cancer Awareness Night" and we have already started by ordering next season's limited Pink Pats product which will be a very nice addition to anyone's wardrobe and a nice tie in with last season Pink Pats scarves. We will continue to do our part in raising awareness and raising money to help find a cure for this awful disease."
Chair of the Canadian Cancer Society, Betty Newson "It is my great pleasure to congratulate you on the recent decision of the National Council of the Canadian Cancers Society to recognize the Regina Pats Hockey Club's significant contribution to cancer control by honouring the Club with our Special Recognition Award."
The Regina Pats will continue their commitment to the Canadian Cancer Society again this October with "Breast Cancer Awareness Night". It will be another superb event that continues to evolve into one of the best game night's of the season.
