From the Notes

Opening Day: The Sounds are 18-20 all-time on Opening Day and 23-15 in home openers in Nashville. Last year, the Sounds lost in Colorado Springs to open the season before returning the favor against the Sky Sox in the home opener with a 3-2 win. Nashville has opened a season just one time against Oklahoma City. Back on April 7, 1994, the Sounds topped the Oklahoma City 89ers, 10-5, in OKC. The 89ers were a Texas Rangers affiliate and a member of the American Association.

The Youth Movement: Nashville features 14 players on the Opening Day roster at 26 years old or younger and just 3 players over 30. Eight Sounds are listed among Oakland's top-20 prospects (according to Baseball America) to begin the 2016 season. They include: LHP Sean Manaea (No. 2), INF Renato Nunez (No. 4), OF Matt Olson (No. 6), INF Chad Pinder (No. 7), LHP Dillon Overton (No. 8), INF Max Muncy (No. 13), INF Rangel Ravelo (No. 15) and Joey Wendle (No. 17).

Smith vs. Lee Part 2: On August 28, 2015, Smith and Lee faced each other at Southwest University Park in El Paso. The veteran got the best of the youngster as he went 7 innings and allowed 1 run on 4 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 6 in El Paso's 7-1 win over Oklahoma City. Lee allowed 7 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits in 5 hits and was tagged with the loss.

Milestone Watch: Two Sounds are on the edge of a career milestone. Smith is 1 win away from 50 in his career. He has 48 career wins in the minor leagues and 1 win in the big leagues. Catcher Matt McBride is 1 hit away from 1,000 in his career. He has 969 hits in the minor leagues and 30 in the big leagues.
