Nashua's Glenn Murray Lancaster's new hitting coach

(NASHUA, NH, January 29, 2007) The Nashua Pride announced today that Glenn Murray will be assuming the role of hitting coach for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League. Murray brings a wealth of experience to the Pennsylvania club and its coaching staff having played for the Nashua Pride from 1999-2006. He is the Atlantic League's career leader in home runs (158) and RBI (528).

"I'm overjoyed right now to be part of the organization in Lancaster," Murray said. "I lived in Harrisburg for 10 years so it's basically a homecoming for me. I'm grateful to Adam (Gladstone) and Frank (Klebe) for the opportunity to show them what I can do."

"Murray has been a dominant hitter in the Atlantic League since its inception and he will be an asset to Lancaster's club house," comments Pride V.P. of Baseball Operations, Chris Hall. "Glenn produced a lot of great memories here in Nashua both on and off the field and the club wishes him continued success in his professional baseball coaching career."

Murray, 36, was selected by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the 1989 draft and hit 26 home runs for the Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League in 1993. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 1994 and hit 50 home runs in two seasons with Class AAA Pawtucket. In 1996, he was traded to Philadelphia and played in 38 games for the Phillies.

The Nashua Pride, entering its tenth anniversary season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The Pride is participating in its second year of play in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball.
