Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release

LAKE CHARLES LA. - In a move to boost the new "monster defense," Louisiana Swashbucklers head coach Darnell Lee announces the signing of Demourrius Jones.

Jones, at 6' and 217 lbs. is projected to be either in the defensive secondary or a linebacker. He has tremendous experience in playing defense. He played college football at Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. In the 2008 and '09 seasons Jones has also seen action as a strong safety. He has run the 40-yard-dash at 4.61 and the pro shuttle at 4.47.

In his collegiate career Jones has to his credit 120 tackles, three interceptions, 4.5 sacks, 12 pass break-ups and eight hurries. Twice he had a game high 11 tackles. In the 2010 NAIA Senior Classic All Star Game Jones had eight tackles and became the all-time leader in that category.

"What I like about Jones is his ability to move fast on the field," Lee said. "Whether it's defending the rush or the pass he can make great contributions in the secondary. This will allow us to help reduce scoring opportunities by opposing offenses."
