
NAHL Names Players of the Week

NORTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike Ruberto, a 6-0, 190-lb left wing for the Cleveland Barons has garnered the North Offensive Player of the Week honor. Hailing from Stoney Creek, Ontario, Ruberto registered 3-2â5 points in two Barons victories. He had a hat trick, with all three goals coming via the power play and an assist with the extra man in a 5-2 win over the Toledo IceDiggers and an assist in a 7-2 win over the IceDiggers.
NORTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Ruberto, a 6-0, 200-lb defenseman for the Cleveland Barons, has earned the North Defensive Player of the Week honor. He had six assists; four in a single game, in two wins over the Toledo IceDiggers while. Five of his helpers came on the power play while two assists went to his brother Mike Ruberto, the North Offensive Player of the Week. In addition Matt Ruberto and the Barons stopped 14 of 16 Toledo power play opportunities.
SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brent Cooper, a 6-0, 200-lb right shot forward for the Texas Tornado, has earned the South Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending 9/28/03. Cooper registered 3-1â4 points in two Tornado wins. A native of Washington, MI, Cooper had the game winning goal on consecutive nights, and earned first star honors in a 5-2 win over the Texarkana Bandits.
SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brent Solei of the Fairbanks Icedogs has been named the South Defensive Player of the Week. Solei, a 5-7, 150-lb netminder from Coon Rapids, MN, held the Lone Star Cavalry off the scoreboard on consecutive nights. In the back-to-back shutouts, which is the first time the Icedogs have recorded consecutive shutouts in their Junior âA' franchise history, Solei notched 64 saves earning first and second star honors.
WEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travis Whitehead of the Fernie Ghostriders collected the South Offensive Player of the Week award. From Cambridge, Ontario, Whitehead, a 6-1, 185-lb forward scored twice, including the game winner at the 19:47 mark of the third period, in a 3-2 season opening win against the Bozeman ICEDOGS.
WEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Quinn of the Fernie Ghostriders was awarded the West Defensive Player of the Week honor for the week ending September 28, 2003. In a 3-2 win over the visiting Bozeman ICEDOGS, Quinn a 6-2, 185-lb native of Sexsmith, Alberta stopped 34 shots for a .944 save percentage.
