Marquette Rangers News Release
Marquette - Marquette Rangers forward Josh Bussell has been honored by the North American Hockey League as the Sherwood North Division Player of the Week.
The LaSalle, Michigan native paced the Rangers with two goals and five assists Marquette took two out of three games this past weekend against the Alpena IceDiggers at Northern Lights Arena. On the season Bussell has recorded 17 points on eight goals and nine assists on the season.
Bussell, who began the year with the Texas Tornado of the NAHL South Division, is in his second stint with the Rangers after being traded to Motor City in the autumn of 2009. Bussell also played briefly with Mahoning Valley last season before that organization left the NAHL to join the United States Hockey League.
"Josh is a scoring threat every night," said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller. "As a veteran of this league and a leader on this team we expect him to put up numbers like he did last week. His hard work in all three zones paid off for him."
Marquette (18 - 10, 36 pts.) sits in first place atop the North Division heading into the holiday weekend. The Rangers resume action on Monday and Tuesday of next week at Traverse City before returning home to host Alpena on Wednesday December 30th.
