
NAHL Awards Recognize RoadRunner Standouts

The North American Hockey League has released their All-Division teams and honors for the 2014-15 season. The awards are voted onby the leagues head coaches. Two RoadRunner players made the list, and anotherwas acknowledged for academic achievement.
The All-South Division team featured Daniel Brickley on defense with Matej Tomek in goal. Brickley led all Topeka defensemen in scoringwith 12 goals and 25 assists and led NAHL blueliners with 8 power play goals.His efforts helped him land a Division I college commitment to Minnesota StateUniversity - Mankato for next season. Tomek had a solid year, posting a 24-7-2record including 6 shutouts. His 1.83 goals against average was second best in theleague, and during the year, he committed to University of North Dakota. TheNHL has Tomek ranked as the fifth highest goalie in North America on theirfinal Central Scouting Report, and he is projected as a possible first round draftpick in the NHL Entry Draft in June. Additionally, the NAHL named Tomek as theSouth Division Goalie of the Year.
The NAHL also recognizes one player in the league as theAcademic Achievement Award, and Topeka's JackKelly was named this year's recipient. As one of the younger RoadRunners,Kelly has a bright future ahead both on and off the ice. He's the secondRoadRunner in the last three years to earn the honor, following formerRoadRunner captain Drew Kariofiles(2013).
The NAHL website notes the following: "The remainder of theNAHL 2014-15 season awards including the All-NAHL Teams, Most Valuable Player,Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Vaughn Goaltender of the Year,Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, General Manager of the Year and Organizationof the Year, along with the Academic Achievement Award and Community ServiceAward, will be all be announced on Monday, April 27th."
