Myers and SY Dawgs Take Game Two From Racers Nerissa Myers Photo by Jade Hewitt Courtesy of National Pro Fastpitch The Woodlands, TX (July 5, 2016) - The Dawgs faced the Racers for game two on Tuesday night.

The Dawgs were first on the board with a two-run homer from Kiki Stokes in the bottom of the second inning (0-2). Stokes has a .467 slugging percentage and four home runs on the season.

The Racers answered back in the third inning, with a walk to Taylor Schlopy and an RBI single from Sami Fagan to make the score 1-2. The Dawgs attempted to put more runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Taylore Fuller leading off with a hit by pitch and Lexi Overstreet followed with a sac bunt to move Fuller to second. Christian Stokes singled up the middle to put runners on the corners, but were left stranded on base.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nerissa Myers went yard with an opposite field bomb off of Rachele Fico - her first of the season - to put two runs on the board (1-4). Fuller followed with a walk and Overstreet doubled to center to score Fuller from first (1-5). Aimee Creger entered the circle for the Racers to get the last out of the inning.

Starting pitcher Monica Abbott had six strikeouts and allowed one run over five innings. Sara Driesenga entered the circle in the sixth and closed with two strikeouts.

The Scrap Yard Dawgs defeated the Akron Racers 1-5. The Dawgs face the Racers again on July 8 at Firestone Stadium.
