Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE (April 28, 2012) - The Milwaukee Mustangs (2-3) are back home tonight as they take on the Utah Blaze (4-2). Milwaukee is a perfect 3-0 against Utah in all-time regular season appearances and defeated the Blaze 65-53 on the road in 2011.
Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in the Bradley Center on tonight and can be heard on 540 ESPN and Espnwisconsin.com with play-by-play announcer Bill Johnson. Live streaming of the game will be available on Time Warner Cable Sports32 and ustream.com/milwaukeemustangs.
This week's game will feature an appearance by the University of Wisconsin Badger Band and a youth replica Mustangs' jersey giveaway to the first 1,000 kids 14 and under. College students may receive ticket discounts with the presentation of a college ID and one lucky student will win an iPad.
Milwaukee is coming off of a heartbreaking 62-61 loss to the Chicago Rush in the final seconds of last weekend's game and will be looking to rebound with a home victory against the Blaze. Utah enters the contest on a two-game winning streak, including a close 63-62 win last week against the Iowa Barnstormers.
The Mustangs are led offensively by quarterback Gino Guidugli, who rushed for a touchdown and threw for 330 yards and eight touchdowns on 28 of 35 passing against the Rush. Guidugli's primary targets have been wide receivers Jared Jenkins and Jonathan Wilson, who combined for 239 receiving yards and six touchdowns versus Chicago. Jenkins leads the team with 41 catches for 539 yards and 11 scores in the early part of the season.
On defense, Milwaukee saw great production rushing the passer last week, notching four total sacks. Quartez Vickerson led the way with two sacks, while Luis Vasquez and Dwayne LeFall each took turns at Chicago's quarterback during the evening. Recently acquired defensive back, Kelvin Rodgers and the rest of the Mustangs' secondary will need to be on top of their game this week, as Utah comes to town with one of the Arena Football League's best aerial attacks.
Blaze quarterback Tommy Grady leads the league with 43 touchdown passes and has helped Utah average 62.0 points and 300.2 passing yards per game through six games. Milwaukee will also need to keep tabs on wide receiver Aaron Lesue, who earned National Guard MVP of the Week honors with 11 catches for 166 yards and four touchdowns against Iowa.
