Muskegon's Bouchard Sets Professional Hockey Record
Published on January 21, 2004 under International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) News Release
LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Wednesday that Muskegon Fury right wing Robin Bouchard has registered a goal in 17-straight games, setting a new professional hockey record for longest consecutive goal-scoring streak.
Bouchard tallied the game-tying goal in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Adirondack IceHawks to extend his record-setting streak. He has amassed 21-goals during the streak that began on December 20, 2003.
The 30-year-old Jonquiere, Quebec native eclipses the old record shared by retired National Hockey League (NHL) forward Punch Broadbent (Ottawa, 1921-22) and the ECHL's Darren Schwartz (Wheeling, 1992-93).
"We are extremely proud of Robin's historical accomplishment. This achievement is a true testament of the level of hard work, dedication and talent he brings to the United Hockey League," stated President/CEO Richard Brosal.
Bouchard will attempt to extend his consecutive goal-scoring streak on Thursday, January 22, 2004 when the Fury travel to Elmira, New York. Muskegon plays the Elmira Jackals at 7:00 PM at the First Arena.
