Mudcats Stun Tennessee 5-4

Zebulon, NC- Cameron Maybin won the game with a pitch hit walk off homerun as Carolina took the series opener over Tennessee 5-4 at Five County Stadium. The round tripper helped the Mudcats to their only lead of the contest as Tennessee was ahead from the games first inning.

The Smokies scored three runs in the top of the first. Doug Deeds got the scoring started with a hot single to center score Joe Simokaitis. Kyle Reynolds followed Deeds by drilling an opposite fields double to left bring in two more runs.

Carolina answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the first make the score 3-1.

Tyler Colvin extended the Smokies advantage back to three with a run scoring third inning double.

The Mudcats picked up a single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to set up the dramatic finish.

The series from Carolina will continue tomorrow afternoon as Jeff Samardzija (2-0) will start for Tennessee while the Mudcats send Ryan Tucker (1-1).
