Mountaineers Outlast Blue Sox in High-Scoring Affair, 26-15

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Wednesday as the Vermont Mountaineers (6-5) outscored the Holyoke Blue Sox (5-6) 26-15.

The two teams combined for 38 hits in the game.

The Vermont Mountaineers blew out the Holyoke Blue Sox thanks to 24 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Vermont Mountaineers scored eight runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Chris Cook, an error, a sacrifice fly by Michael White, an RBI single by Rob Kelly, an RBI single by Logan Pierce, a two-run double by Austin Green, and an RBI single by John Mishu .

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Aaron Barbosa racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Vermont Mountaineers.

Richie Ochoa recorded his first win of the year for the Vermont Mountaineers. He allowed four runs over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Brandon Thomas couldn't get it done on the hill for the Holyoke Blue Sox, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in one-third of an inning, walked one and struck out none.

The Vermont Mountaineers hammered the Holyoke Blue Sox pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 23 hits, 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
