Cincinnati Commandos News Release
Derrick Moss set a team record with 91 rushing yards as the Cincinnati Commandos (5-0) defeated the Port Huron Predators (2-3), 47-22, Friday night at the Cincinnati Gardens.
Moss had touchdown runs of 14, 30, and 14 yards among his 10 carries to break the mark of 90 yards on 22 carries set by Dominick Goodman, May 29 last year against the Wisconsin Wolfpack. Quarterback George Murray added 96 passing yards on 8-of-16 passing with three touchdowns and one interception, also rushing six times for 34 yards and a score. Murray was pressed into duty because Ben Mauk and Tyler Sheehan both have tryouts scheduled for this weekend. Phillip Barnett, J. C. Baker, and Charles Hawkins all caught touchdowns from Murray.
Thomas Claggett led the defense with 6.0 tackles, while Terrill Byrd had 4.0 tackles, 3.0 for a loss, including half the Commandos four sacks, and forced a fumble. Claggett also had a sack, as did Pernell Phillips. Jeff Franklin and Dave Wess each had an interception.
The Commandos travel to play the Chicago Knights (1-1) next weekend, and, after a bye week, are scheduled to return home to host the Dayton Silverbacks (1-3) at 8:05 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at the Cincinnati Gardens.
