In a joint announcement today, the Manitoba Moose announced the renewal of their developmental affiliation with the Columbia Inferno of the East Coast Hockey League. The agreement is a 1-year extension of an existing agreement that will see the Moose and Inferno continue to work together to develop players within the Vancouver Canucks organization.

The Moose and Inferno first formed an affiliation for the 2002-03 season after coming to a "working agreement" two years ago. In that span, the Inferno have been responsible for the development of a number of players in the Moose system including prospects such as Darrell Hay, Regan Darby, Chris St. Croix, Denis Martynyuk, and Justin Morrison.

"We are please to renew our partnership with the Columbia Inferno," stated Moose General Manger Craig Heisinger. "The affiliation has already been fruitful and successful as seen by the number of Columbia Inferno players moving from the East Coast to the American Hockey League level."

Last season, in only their second year of existence, the Inferno finished third overall in the ECHL and advanced all the way to the Kelly Cup Final before losing in 5 games to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.
